Ethics RM is now being used as a province-wide review system in Ontario

The latest Canadian implementation of Whitehall Training’s sister product, Ethics Review Manager, was officially launched by Clinical Trials Ontario (CTO) earlier this month under the name of “CTO Stream”.

CTO is an independent, not-for-profit organization established by the Government of Ontario. Its mission is to provide a streamlined approach to conducting multi-centre clinical trials in Ontario.

Before the implementation of the EthicsRM-based system, the approach in Ontario was to conduct a research ethics review at each and every research institution participating in the same clinical trial.

“The CTO Streamlined System provides a timely, efficient and effective approach for reviewing multi-centre clinical research in Ontario, while maintaining the highest standards for participant protection,” CTO President and CEO Susan Marlin said at the launch of the new system.

“Infonetica worked closely with CTO every step of the way”, said Infonetica CEO, Mark Larson. “The system design and configuration process has proven to be a true test for the flexibility of the system but we are pleased with how it has performed.”

CTO joins the ranks of well-known EthicsRM users, including: King’s College, London; Cranfield University; and The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
